Can you help design and manage the infrastructure for DOD’s primary public facing web sites? We have started our DevOps & Cloud journey, and need you to help us reach the next level! We just received a 5 year, $70M+ contract extension, so things are cooking on this project team. 

 

Job Description

OMNITEC Solutions, Inc., (http://www.omnitecinc.com) has an immediate employment opportunity for a seasoned Windows Systems Administrator supporting a high profile web-hosting infrastructure at our client site in Ft. Meade, Maryland. We need your core expertise with large & robust Windows System Administration, along with any DevOps and Cloud chops you can bring to the table.

 

Quick Note #1: US citizenship and either an active clearance or a clearance that has been inactive less than 24 months;  

 

Quick Note #2: Partial remote/telecommute hours are available (after initial training & client approval) but you must reside locally to the 20755 area. 

 

We seek core expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining a current Windows based enterprise infrastructure, as well as helping us understand and implement emerging next-generation best practices such as running a lean enterprise, version control, and managing Infrastructure as Code. Help us as we transition our infrastructure and processes into a cloud-based, highly scalable, and efficient environment.

 

You will work closely with other System/Network professionals, Web Developers, Database Administrators, Built/Test engineers and Help Desk professionals supporting 800+ highly visible web sites, including: http://www.defense.govhttp://www.af.mil/http://www.navy.mil/; and others. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deploy and support the Windows Platform on physical hardware and virtual machines;
  • Deploy and support ASP.Net and PHP Web applications using technology such as IIS, ARR, Microsoft SQL Server and other web related technologies;
  • Provide operational support such as server monitoring, backups, patching, and other duties as required;
  • Write PowerShell to automate redundant tasks;
  • Help us as we transition our infrastructure and processes into a cloud-based, highly scalable, and efficient environment.

Required Skills: 

  • 5+ years relevant professional experience building out and ramping up Microsoft Windows Server infrastructures;
  • Understanding of IIS and related Web technologies;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Servers;
  • Experience with a virtualization platform such as VMWare;
  • Scripting Skills (PowerShell strongly preferred);
  • Fundamental knowledge of networking and common protocols;
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills;
  • Strong written/verbal communication skills;
  • Security certification such as Security+ certification or higher or ability to immediately obtain;
  • US citizenship and either an active clearance or the ability to immediately obtain an Interim Secret is required.

Helpful Skills

  • Support virtual infrastructure locally and within AWS cloud
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure
  • Experience with technologies such as: Github, Splunk, and JIRA/Confluence;
  • Knowledge of configuration management using tools such as Desired State, Configuration (DSC), Chef, or Puppet;
  • Experience with a CDN such as Akamai;
  • Experience supporting web-based Content, Knowledge, or Learning Management Systems (CMS / KMS / LMS);
  • Helpful certifications include but are not limited to: MCSA, MCSE, Server+, CISSP, AWS Certified SysOps Administrator, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
