Job Description
OMNITEC Solutions ( ) has an immediate employment opportunity for a Senior SQL Server DBA to help support a high profile web hosting infrastructure at our client site in Ft. Meade, Maryland, 20755.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • working within a MS SQL Server DBA team, largely responsible for providing daily operational database services to the client; 
  • tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests; 
  • performing database administration;
  • identifying performance bottlenecks; 
  • performing routine database maintenance in development, staging, and production environments. 
  • troubleshooting Sql Server service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends; 
  • installing and configuring new Sql Servers; 
  • migrating data between environments; 
  • deploying database scripts to support application changes; 
  • using Sql Server monitoring and management tools to discover and identify problems; 
  • assisting application developers with the design of application databases; 
  • ensuring all Sql Servers meet standardized security requirements and accepted industry best practices.
  • Create and execute complex ad hoc queries to select, insert, and update data or analyze server, database, and table information as needed
Required Skills
  • either a 4 year degree and 5+ total years experience, or 7-10+ years of experience with increasing competence and responsibilities; 
  • 3+ years Database Administration for MS SQL Server; 
  • Troubleshooting and resolving database problems;
  • Performance Tuning and Optimization, using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools; 
  • Backup and restore databases, and create database maintenance plans; 
  • Transactional Replication with Updating Subscribers; 
  • Creating and maintaining Sql Agent jobs. 
  • Knowledge of High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for MSSQL Server; 
  • Experience in implementing operational automation using scripts. 
  • Knowledge of indexes, index management, and statistics. 
  • Experience working with Windows server, including Active Directory and proper disk configurations; 
  • MCDBA (legacy) or MCSE: Data Platform Certification; 
  • Security+ Certification; 
  • Good communication and documentation skills;
  • Strong query language skills;
  • Knowledge of Dynamic Management Views;
  • Experience with Sql Server Management Studio;
  • US citizenship and either an active Secret clearance or the ability to pass the background investigation required to immediately obtain an interim Secret clearance required.
Helpful Skills
  • Past experience supporting large, complex, and robust infrastructures running web-based solutions is a big plus; 
  • Experience supporting DOD or large federal agency platforms;
  • Experience with MySql and PostgreSql databases and client tools;
  • Experience with AWS/Cloud Computing Services;
