Project Manager, Shipboard Installation and Maintenance

OMNITEC Solutions, Inc., ( is seeking a Project Manager for shipboard installation and maintenance projects. We have supported this client for 10+ years, helping ensure our service members on naval vessels have the most up to date ship-board Audio/Visual and Broadcast services available for training, entertainment, and security. This team works on-site in Norfolk, VA, 23511. 

Please Note: US citizenship and an active SECRET clearance are 100% required. 

The PM will manage the scope, schedule, cost and quality of each project in accordance with project objectives.  The projects are associated with shipboard based media systems installation, upgrade and maintenance.

The PM will develop and manage Project Plans, Task Trackers, and Schedules that comply with task cost, technical and schedule requirements.  

The PM will work with Department of Navy and USCG clients to execute the projects in accordance with government milestones, key events and significant accomplishment criteria.  

The PM work closely with shipbuilders, contractors, government representatives and various program office support staff to effectively integrate, maintain and control Project Plans, Trackers and Schedules.

The PM will participate in program reviews, provide schedule and execution analysis feedback, and apply insight to overcome cost, technical and schedule problems.

General Responsibilities:

  • Manage time, cost and scope for shipboard and shore based installations, upgrades and maintenance of media systems.
  • Manage projects by developing Project Plans, maintaining schedules, tracking progress, analyzing results and reporting status and work-around plans.
  • Responsible for developing and managing Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&M) in multiple formats as required.
  • Responsible for managing task cost with support of Program Manager.
  • Planning, scheduling, and updating program activities in MS Project and other tracking tools (eg. MS EXCEL or SharePoint).
  • Establish milestones, baselines and workforce resources, and monitor adherence to Project Plans and schedules.
  • Lead installation teams in executing project tasks/activities, supervise work completion, perform quality reviews and report progress.

Position Requirements:

  • Experience in planning, scheduling, and updating project activities in MS Project and other tracking tools (ie. MS EXCEL or SharePoint).
  • Experience establishing and maintaining schedule templates, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • 7+ years relevant working experience in shipboard/shore based installation and maintenance.
  • 5+ years supervisory experience.
  • 2+ years project management experience.
  • Must be open to up to 50% travel as tasking requires.
  • US citizenship required and active SECRET clearance

Helpful Skills: 

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is not a requirement, but desired.
  • Proficient with MS Office suite, to include MS Project.
